Product Props: 365 No Boil Lasagne

Lasagna is one of my favorite foods. It is comforting and can be made with endless combinations of ingredients. But one thing often stands between me and making my own lasagna- time. Aside from cutting up all the veggies and making the sauce, the noodles have to be cooked just right before I can assemble it.

Luckily, a terrific time-saving product has come along so I can dig into the layers of scrumptiousness sooner. 365 No Boil Lasange from Whole Foods requires no prior cooking. Just layer the ingredients onto dry, uncooked noodles and let the magic happen in the oven. Each box 1-pound box is enough to make 2 modest-sized lasagnas. Priced at $1.99 per box, it is quite a bargain especially considering the time saved.

While these noodles are fantastic in many ways, they do tend to get a bit chewy and dry if they don't have enough time to cook through or liquid to absorb. To overcome that, just remember to give it sufficient time in the oven with a generous amount of sauce. A neat trick I learned from my making veggie lasagna is leaving the defrosted frozen spinach a little wet so the noodles can absorb the extra liquid.

I was skeptical about this product when I first saw it. It seemed too good or magical to be true. But I am a believer after testing these 365 No Boil Lasagne in a veggie lasagna that practically received standing ovation. I highly recommend this product to everyone, particularly to the time-crunched slow-food supporters out there.

I'm amazed they didn't get soggy despite how much liquid there was from the frozen spinach! More reason to try (or stick with) this product!
