Only 1 out of 10 plastic water bottles is recycled. Thousands of pounds of rotten and uneaten food are discarded everyday. 30 billion plastic bags end up as litter each year. All are dumped as trash instead of being diverted accordingly. It's no wonder that Mister Trash Can is so overworked!

When I was a kid many years ago, there were lots of TV public service advertisements encouraging people not to litter...I never see these anymore(except some about plastic bottles and do these go out in different languages?) Some of the biggest offenders are those from different cultures where littering is a way of life. These ads should be directed towards the Hispanic community as anyone who has spent as much time as I have in Mexico, knows that they do not recycle and littering is discouraged but accepted as normal behavior. If this administration is so concerned about our environment, they should start bombarding us with ads in various languages. Make this a priority in elementary schools.
